ABOUT US

Chance Gawlinski
LLMSW, CADC

My passion and skill set is working with individuals in recovery from substance use and addiction, those struggling with anger or aggression, and people experiencing difficulties in their relationships. I have been facilitating battering intervention groups for domestic violence prevention in our northern Michigan communities since 2016. I like to bring a person-centered approach with my clients and provide an environment founded on trust, safety, and accountability.  My aim is to create a collaborative partnership where clients feel heard, understood, and respected as they navigate their path towards recovery and emotional well-being.

When I’m not fulfilling my life purpose of treating others in need of service, I am enjoying quality time with Alice and our two miniature dachshunds, Pumpkin and Peach. I cherish friendship, traveling, music, classic monster movies, and pinball.

With a focus on strengths-based and trauma-informed approaches, I am dedicated to creating a nurturing and safe environment in which clients can explore their experiences. Drawing from a diverse range of evidence based modalities, I assist clients living with a range of concerns, though I have a particular interest in working with those who have been impacted by trauma. In my work with clients, I utilize EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) and IFS (Internal Family Systems) informed therapy to empower individuals on their healing journey. In addition to providing individual therapy services, I also facilitate the A.W.A.R.E. (A Women's Anger Reduction and Empowerment) Group.

In my personal time, I love to read, cook, connect with nature, sketch, and drink copious amounts of tea.
